Claire Danes’ Steals the Red Carpet

The Met Gala is an annual event that sees many stars take the benefit very seriously, and the 2016 event was no exception. The 2016 event theme: “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”. With such a theme, it’s no wonder we witnessed some of the most creative and innovative ball gowns with Claire Dane stealing the spotlight.

Claire Danes Light up Dress

Zac Posen was the creative designer behind Claire Danes’ sophisticated high-tech gown, made from fibre optic woven organza. While the dress made Danes’ look elegant in the spotlight, it turned her in into a real-life Cinderella when the lights went out.

In the dark, Danes’ dress light up to keep the fantasy alive. The fairy-tale silhouette, represented Posen’s well-known look that is best known for.

Other light up dresses that caught everyone’s eye was Karoline Kurkova’s “cognitive dress”. Designed by IBM Watson in collaboration with Marchesa. The gown was covered in fabric flowers embedded with LED’s. This “cognitive dress” was anything but ordinary, however, it represented Marchesa’s signature of elegance and romance perfectly. The gown continuously changed colour throughout the evening thanks to the help of Watson’s powerful analytical technology.

Kurkova’s gown may have suited the events theme perfectly, however, Dane’s Cinderella inspired look still stole the spotlight on the red carpet.
